Can I reinstall an OEM version as 64 bit?

Hello, I have a new PC with an activated OEM 32 bit version of vista
ultimate installed. I got the OEM DVD, which contains both the 32 bit
and the 64 bit version, and the booklet mentions that you have to
decide on install between 32 bit and 64 bit.

My question is if I could reinstall later (I reinstall my windows
every 6 month from scratch anyways to get a clean and fresh
installation) the 64 bits version and activate it?

Read the end user license agreement, EULA, to find out.

Read the end user license agreement, EULA, to find out.

I was hoping that many people here know it so I would not have to read
the EULA.
If really noone knows then I'll have to read it, but I'd rather not.

yes, no different then getting the 64 bit version from microsoft after you
buy the 32 bit version. i had to order the 64 bit DVD. you will use the same
activation key for either version.

please ignore our resident net nanny.
he is more interested in insuring you post to the proper news group then providing assistance.

since you anticipate waiting 6 months between installing, there SHOULD be no problem in switching versions 32 to 64.
worst case would be you get an error message that the key is in use and you have to call ms and explain what you are doing.
and end up having to enter that dreaded 25 letter key in manually.

Thanks, so there is no explicit decision "once and for all" you must
make when the OEM product is initially activated between 32 and 64
bits.
Then I'll stick with 32 bits for the time being and may try to
reinstall as 64 bit in a couple of months time (give the drivers and
software some more time to support 64 bits version well).
