can I print just one postcard at a time, separated from the others

I would like to send out one postcard but not waste the other three. The
Avery postcards come in a perforated sheet of 4 cards. What settings should I
use to print just one?

Hi Jane-

You just need to treat it as a 'label'...

If you already have a postcard document saved, type the content into one of
the 'postcard cells', then go to Tools>Letters & Mailings>Envelopes & Labels.
Click the option button for 'Single Label' in the lower left corner of the
dialog box & specify which of the 4 label positions your content is in, then
click Print.

If you don't have a postcard doc yet, first go to Tools>Letters &
Mailings>Envelopes & Labels, click the Options button & select the correct
Avery number (probably 3263), then click the button labeled 'New Document'.
Save it with whatever name you wish, then follow the instructions above to
print your postcard.

I apologize for not asking the right question, which is: how can I feed one
postcard into the printer and how do I configure Word to print it correctly?

TIA,
Jane

Your printer may not be able to handle individual cards, and the printer
driver may not be able to format the custom size (but if it can you can set
up a document template to match the label layout, if necessary using the
next larger standard paper size and fixing the difference with margins.

Using the labels option may work - provided you always select the first card
in the dialog to enter your information. Word will still treat the document
as a full sheet even if only one 'label' remains.
