Can I move (not copy) by Drag and Drop to external folder in OL200

Does this functionality exist?

It seems that when I right-click on a message inside OL2007 (Exchange
server) and drag to an external folder (such as my Desktop), and select "Move
here" from the contextual menu, I get a copy instead.

The original message still exisits inside Outlook, and a copy of the message
exists where the "move" was to occur.

This appears to be possible in OL2003.

And, yes, I am aware of alternate means of storing messages outside of OL
(exports), but this actual functionality appears to have changed?

TIA

"Move here" causes the "Delete" to happen. The actual original should be
found in the "Deleted Items" folder.

Thanks for replying, Bob

I would have expected the same...but this doesn't actually happen.

As mentioned below, I end up with what amounts to a copy function - with the
original message exectly where it started, and the same message sitting in
it's destination folder. And closing/reopening Outlook has no effect (thought
it might show msg gone, or in deleted items as you suggested).

So.....any other thoughts? Did you have the opportunity to test this as well?

Actually all "moves" in a file system are "copy", then "delete". Why
your Outlook doesn't delete is odd. Perhaps run Microsoft Office
Diagnostics and see if that fixes the issue? Or are you running some
other addins or anti-virus or other security software that could cause
this behavior?
