Can I manage Outlook profiles via GPO?

I'd like to use group policy to reconfigure my outlook 2000 clients. Right
now they're set up for Internet Mail, and I'd like to configure them to use
our new exchange server without having to visit each client individually.
Haven't found a good starting point yet; google searches only turn up stuff
on general Office deployment, not Outlook profile configuration.

Any help appreciated.

You're going to have to touch all those clients, I'm afraid, because they
all must be reconfigured from IMO to Corporate/Workgroup mode. The good news
is that you can use a .prf file and the Newprof.exe tool from the online
Office 2000 Resource Kit at http://office.microsoft.com to build the new
profiles with a login script.

The Policy Maker tool from http://www.autoprof.com also can do profiles by
policy, but I don't think it can reconfigure Outlook from IMO to CW.

We're actually running in Corporate/Workgroup mode already, but the clients
are set up to POP their mailboxes on our current mail server and send mail
via SMTP, rather than connecting to an exchange server. Does that bring me
any closer to what I'd like to do?

Absolutely. Check out the ORK information I suggested.
