Can I make my computer work w/the sleep timer on my stereo?

I would like to listen to my MP3 files as I go to sleep.
I have my computer sound output hooked into my stereo
receiver. Would it hurt my computer if I powered it
through the receiver as well so that the power cuts out
when my sleep timer goes off?

Not a really good idea - Windows should be shut down gracefully.

One option might be to create a batch file that runs the shutdown command,
and run that batchfile as a scheduled task at some time after you think
you'll be asleep. Make it after the stereo goes off so you don't get
startled by the Windows music!
