can i install student version but not lose content from trial vers

I'm in college and just got a laptop. It came with a trial version of
office. can I intall the student version I got from the school with out
losing the content I've saved?

Probably, but it's always advisable to keep backup copies of important
data, especially before making major changes to the software.
