I have a Manual I need to insert copies of examples into.
They are in .pdf format.

Sure - in 2003 & 2007 at least, not sure about earlier versions. The thing
is that only the first page of a multi-page PDF can be displayed.
Double-clicking the object will open it in a PDF reader if one is available.
Word 2003: Insert> Object> Create From File, navigate to and select the PDF.
Both checkboxes in the dialog should be cleared.
Word 2007: Insert Tab> Text Group> Object, then same as above.

Actually with a current Adobe Reader installed you can insert a PDF into Word and the first page will display (similar to how Word
'sees' multipage TIFF files).
But it caries a lot of 'baggage' being an Insert=>Object=>Create from file

Thanks, Bob, I didn't realize that. On my main PC, I use the
PDF-XChange viewer instead of Adobe Reader, because it has markup
tools. But it can't do the display-in-Word trick; all you get is an
object rectangle, with or without icon. The laptop has Adobe Reader 8,
though, and I see that it does as you say.
