Can I hide comment markers

How do I hide the yellow-highlighted text "[comment]" from the comments in my
Word 2000 document? Further, can I lock the comments themselves so viewers
outside my company can't see them or access them?

1. Tools/Options/View: deactivate "Screen tips" to get rid of the yellow. Turn
off the display of hidden text to hide the comment number

2. No, there's no way to prevent others from seeing your comments if they happen
to have the appropriate "view" options activated. With Word documents it's best
to assume that anything in the document is accessible to whomever opens the
document in Word.

Cindy,

Clearing "ScreenTips" under "Show" indeed eliminated the yellow. But
clearing "Hidden Text" (for some reason under "Formatting marks") did not
elimate [Comment xx]. Any ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean by [Comment xx], although I'll assume you mean
the initials plus comment number (like [CM1]). You also have to turn off the
display of "all" non-printing characters (just activating the ones you want
to see, explicitly).
