Can I get some help here?

Greetings!

As of about a week ago...

When I go to decrease or increase the volume on my notebook it no longers
displays the "green" volume level at the bottom of the lcd screen. I should
probably mention that the volume controls do work though... why would this
happen and is there any way to bring it back?

Other problems that I have encountered...

1. I downloaded a codec pack entitled, "K-Lite Codec Pack" since doing so,
my Windows Media Player 11 no longers plays DVD's. The d: drive acknowledges
the dvd, but when I choose WMP11 to open up the dvd it just shows a blank
screen. (WMP11 does though still play all my music files properly) Yet, when
I open up the dvd with WinDVD or NeroVision it works just fine. I prefer
using WMP11... I uninstalled the K-Lite Codec Pack and uninstalled WMP11 then
reinstalled WMP11 and I am still getting the same problem... Help?

2. As of about a week ago whenever I would insert a dvd or cd into the d:
drive a windows XP command window would pop up asking me how I wanted to open
up the media (i.e. open with WMP11 or sonic or rip music with...)
That command option window no longer appears. The system will acknowledge
the cd of dvd and I can open them, but this shortcut has disappeared... Is
there a way of bringing it back? Help!

Thank you in advance for all help provided...

1. What make and model laptop? This is not a Windows Problem, but
related to your laptop.
2. Have you tried uninstalling the K-Lite Codec Pack to see if your Media
Player 11 will then play a DVD?
3. Is the autorun related to the time you installed the K-Lite?
You need to give more information if you want help.

Thank you in advance Richard...

I own a HP Pavilion zd8000 XP Media Center Edition.

I uninstalled the codec pack, yet the problem still exists.

Yes, the autorun not working is related to the time I installed the codec
pack.

Try system restore to an earlier date and see if that will help.
If not then make sure your computer malwares/viruses free by scanning and
then open a run command and type in:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and wait it for it to finish.
HTH.
