Can I get my "missing" hard drive space back?

I purchased Acronis TruImage today, and things didn't go well after
installation and first attempt at a backup, so I decided to start over
from scratch. I removed Acronis successfully, and System Restore took
me back to yesterday's settings fine, but SysRestore will not,of course,
give me back the partition I created. Is there a way to return the hard
drive to "before Acronis"? After reinstalling Acronis, the chunk of hard
drive space it used for backup is "invisible" - it's on the order of 70
gig. I am still not pressed for space (I have 128 gig free), but I
would really like to get that space back short of a complete reformat,
and then spend a day reading and re-reading the user guide before trying
again. Is it possible to do what I need here?

And yes, regretfully, I realize my mistake - removing Acronis before
removing that partition first.

Very grateful for any help.

Since Acronis created, I'd only feel safe using Acronis to remove it. I'd
reinstall Acronis, and remove the partition, then uninstall again. Of
course, this applies only if Acronis allows you to do that. I've never used
the software, but if it works that way, then that is the way I'd do it...
Safest I'm sure.
