can I get calendar reminders with outlook closed?

I would like to get outlook calendar reminders even if outlook is not
running. Is there a setting I am not finding or is this not an option? Is
there third party stuff out there that would do the trick?

No, if Outlook isn't started the Calendar info cannot be read.

Outlook will not display reminders unless it is running. There may be third
party tools available, but I don't know of any personally. See if something
