Can I export Email Accounts

Hello all,

I've been looking through the help files and couldn't find a direct answer
for this. I want to export my email accounts (like you can do in OE). I
want to import them into my Outlook at work without copying down all the
settings and creating new accounts from scratch. I looked through the
"Import and Export..." wizard but didn't find anything refering to exporting
accounts.

Is there anyway I can export account settings, like I can in OE, so they can
import back into Outlook? If not, is there files that I can copy that hold
the settings?

G'Day Conan,

Information on Accounts is stored in a Mail Profile. This is NOT
a file, but a set of entries in the Windows Registry. For that
reason it is DIRECTLY controlled by the Mail applet in Control
Panel. Some would argue that it is therefore not part of Outlook.

for a description of Profiles. To 'back up' a Profile (or Profiles),
you would need to back up portions of the Windows Registry.....

....I guess it aint real simple!

You need to use the registry editor to move account settings from one system
to another.go to start and type regedit in the run line

1. Take a back up of the following registry key and 'EXPORT" the registry
key by the name profile
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Windows Messaging
Subsystem\Profiles
***If you wish to back up specific profiles go to
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Windows Messaging
Subsystem\Profiles\<profile name>***
2. Transfer the registry key to the system you with to import the settings
to.
3. To restore or re-import the account settings, close all running windows
and applications then double click on the backed up registry key, and say
yes to the warning you receive. At this point you should have imported the
settings into the new outlook.
NOTE
Always back up the registry keys on any system prior to importing data

You might also look into USMT (User State Migration Tool)
but it is likely overkill for this task -- and perhaps will copy
too much.
