Can I do this?

I want to be able to run a local workstation app form the terminal server.
How do I do this?

I would love to be able to create a shortcut to it on the desktop.

Thanks

The nearest you can come without Citrix is to configure your Remote
Desktop client with the name of the server, you user name, password
and domain, and the application as the Starting application. Save
your settings in a rdp file and put the rdp file on your desktop.

Vera, I tried this but it seems to be looking for it on the server and not
the local workstation.

Thanks

I'm sorry, John, I've misread your original question.
I thought you wanted to have a shortcut directly to your TS
session, but re-reading your post, I see that you want to run an
application which is installed on your workstation from within your
TS session. This is not possible with native Windows TS, and I
agree completely with Bill Skoda's answer: you need Citrix for this
(it's called content redirection in Citrix world)

You can do it by programming, use Virtual Channel SDK you can send command
from server to workstation.
