Can I do a clean install with XP Home Upgrade version?

I have an XP upgradable Win98 SE on my computer and would like to install XP
home, I'd prefer to do a clean install. I know that I will have to install
all my software again, I think it is worth it to start with a clean XP
registry.

Can I do this with the XP Home Upgrade version?

Yes....

Simply format your harddrive, then insert your CD as if you are doing a
fresh install....the install routine will ask for proof of previous,
applicable software (win98se cd) a couple of minutes in, y pop the cd in,
and it will continue.
