Can I delete "2775475.msp" (18 MB)

Can I safely delete C:\windows\installer\2775475.msp? It is 18 MB.

If this is a Microsoft patch which I have downloaded & applied then
presumably I can delete it. If I need it in future I guess I could
download it again. Am I correct?

Thank you for any help.

PS: There is also another file of the same size "27754245.msp" which
I would also like to delete. Is it ok to do so?

There is no way for us to guess what those files are. Right-click on the
icon for the file and then left-click on Properties. If it is a
Microsoft file, it will say so on the Version tab. If it belongs to
another company, you might get lucky and it might be identified on the
Version tab. If the files are not identified, do the normal virus and
malware scans.

Doesn't the file number refer to some Microsoft fix or some
Microsoft technical document or something like that?

It says "Windows Installer Patch" in each case.

Two anti-virus checkers say the two files are ok.

So the question remains ... Can I safely delete the file
C:\windows\installer\2775475.msp ?

All Microsoft files (except a few of the DOS .exe's) have the Microsoft
name and program identification on the Version tab. So I can't give you
a definitive answer. Just because something says "Microsoft Installer
Patch" isn't a 100% guarantee that the item really comes from
Microsoft. For instance, I'm seeing a lot of malware on clients'
computers called "Recommended Update #some number" and "Windows SR-2".
The latter isn't Service Pack 2 but something from the vile Internet
Optimizer. A good solution for you would be to just move the files to
the Recycle Bin or rename them and see what happens.

If you use Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\Installer
folder, just place your mouse pointer over a .msi/msp or mst file for a
couple of seconds and the Pop up details will show you details for each
one.

MSP (Microsoft Patch) modules are mapped into the Registry. If you
move them, you'll need to make appropriate changes to the keys.

I would consider the entire folder a System critical and just leave it be.

Thanks for the added input. My concern was that she said the files
weren't identified on the Version tab, and I haven't seen any MS files
that didn't say they were MS files. Maybe she was just doing
housekeeping.
