Can I create references to the following Annex numbers

R

robo1991

In the body of some paragraphs we want to add Annex with a number.

e.g., in paragraph 2 we type Annex 1

Then in paragraph 5 we type Annex 2

Lastly in paragraph 6 we type Annex 3

Is there anyway to get the Annex numbering to update automatically? Should
we decide to add another paragraph between existing paragraphs, (i.e. between
3 and 4) could the Annex number be added and then recount down the page. This
new number would be 2 and then 2 and 3 move up one number.

I hope this makes sense.

Let me know if we can do this in Word 2003.

Thanks
Rob

Hi Suzanne,

You often help me. Thanks. I know how to create outline numbers and use
references.

The difference this time is the Annex reference is typed into the body of a
paragraph and not related to any of the paragraph numbers.

Do you still think this can be setup?

Thanks
Rob

Ah, in that case I suppose you could use a SEQ field such as { SEQ Annex }.
They don't update automatically, but they can be updated with F9.
