Can I change Outlook 2000 default attachment folder?

When I create new mail and click attachment button, it will default go
to My Document folder. Can I change to something like D:\. It is easy to
change on Excel or Word but I don't know whow to change in Outlook 2000.
Please help, thanks a lot.

Amon

Although Outlook dose not support custom directories you could try modifying
the following registry entries:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\Personal

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders\Personal

Try changing the current values to D:\

This will set the default location to the root of your d. When you re-launch
outlook you will be able to click the attach button and the window displayed
will have the contents of your d: drive, all though the look in drop down
box may still display My Documents (but you could probably live with this).

I'm not quite sure what else this effects yet but it will not effect other
office products because they have there own default values.

If your unsure and if you try make sure you back up your registry (It can be
a little flaky)

I have tested this with Outlook 2002 and it does not seem to work. (Just in
case anyone tries)

Cheers
Neil

I worked like this for a few hours yesterday and found it will effect other
applications. The first I noticed was remote desktop. It couldn't find my
settings because it was using the default explorer shell folders.
Just keep in mind that when you change this, if anything at all unexpected
happens with any other application just change it back to what it was!
Thank you
Neil
