Can a lap top be used as a dual monitor?

I just bought a new Acer Laptop, my question to the group is, is there
anyway I could use my laptop as a dual monitor for my desktop? Is that
possible? I have windows Vista installed in both the laptop and the
desktop.
Any help or suggestion in this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No.

But you COULD run a program called Synergy on the laptop and desktop,
connected through your network ports.

It lets you use one keyboard & mouse to control multiple PC's.

Most laptops have an external video connector - the good ones allow you
to use your LCD and an external monitor at the same time - you can
select SPAN on the setting and have two complete screens for one very
wide desktop.

As Leythos said, you can use the laptop to drive a monitor to have two
screens but you can't use the desktop to drive the laptop's screen. The
laptop just doesn't have the internal circuitry to enable that.

If you need two monitors there are many video cards that will drive two or
more monitors that you could purchase for your desktop and then purchase the
required monitors.

Dunno, this is the XP group. You might ask in the vista group and find
someone that may know.

there is a feature used
for troubleshooting that
may be adapted.

the affect would provide
two similar displays.

by networking the two
computers together and
initiating a remote desktop
function, one computer will
have the view and access of
the desktop of another.

however instead of using it for
troubleshooting, it can
be adapted for training
or presentations.

i don't know of the advanced
features of vista yet:

but a remote desktop session/feature
i have used is called "simple desktop"
via the internet.
