Can Anyone tell me, is it possible to share a COM Port over LAN, and how!

THANX!

Not natively in Xp but......

This one is freeware:

http://www.hw-group.com/products/hw_vsp/index_en.html

I don't know if more than one user can access the 'remote' serial port or
not, and I have not tried this package yet.

This one is a commercial package:

http://www.eltima.com/products/serial-over-ethernet/

As I have noy yet tried this one either, I also do not know whether or not
it can allow multiple connections at the same time.

You can use a program called TCP-Com to share a COM port located on
one PC with other PCs across your network. TCP-Com is a "Serial to
TCP/IP converter".

The way that it works is that you run TCP-Com on the PC with the
serial port that you want to share and set it up to be a TCP/IP Server
opening the COM port that you want to share. You then run another copy
of TCP-Com on the other workstations that you want to share the port
with and set it up to create a "Virtual COM Port" that is connected as
a TCP/IP client to the IP Address and port number for the Server
instance of TCP-Com that is running in the PC where the actual serial
port is installed.
