camera driver

I have an Olympus C5050. My computer, using XP home
doen't recognize it. It shows up in device driver
manager under USB as not having a driver.

I tried it with my USB scanner/printer unplugged, no joy.

Any suggestions?

The camera works on other computers.

Sorry, Jim, they were your best bet as drivers are the manufacturer's
responsibility. Microsoft doesn't create drivers for vendor hardware. Even
the drivers included with XP are supplied by the manufacturers.

I have talked to Olympus help all the way to the main
office. The camera works on other XP loaded computers.
XP is supposed to provide the driver, and is not. In
Device manager under USB it shows the C5050 connected, but
no driver loaded.

My other external drives (MP3) work and connect
properly. I tried to see if it was a conflict with
another USB device by disabling my scanner/printer. No
joy.

Right now the problem appears to be in XP. I'm looking
for a patch/fix/update, not no luck.

when you try to connect, is the camera connected to a hub or directly to the
PC. If it's connected to a hub, try connecting it directly to the PC and
see if it is then recognized. By the way, even if the driver is on the XP
CD, it is provided by HP.

This model camera is a mass storage (MS) device. There is no driver persee
that you will find. When plugged into your computer, it should just "show
up" in Explorer as like any other file system (like your hard drive) and My
Computer.

If this isn't happening, then you might want ot contact the seller or
manufacturer if you recently purchased it.

good luck!
