Camera connection

Have a JVC miniDV camcorder. Cannot get computer or Windows movie maker to
recognize it. Connection is firewire. Computer is Gateway 505GR has 3
firewire ports, 2 on front panel and 1 on rear. Thanks in advance for any
input.

Reboot PC with camcorder turned on AND in playback mode. Is it now
recognized?

Still not detecting it. MMP still gives me the no device detected message.

I had Windows 98 Second Edition comp. (which crashed)... i have some
newsgroups streaming
media from outlook express (combined & decoded) and saved in folders on my
cd-r discs....
my problem is i did not finalize them in my old comp. now i have a new
comp. windows xp home..
and i can not open these discs due to not finalizing them...
any suggestions on how i can retieve these movies- mpg.wmv.asf. , etc..

Have you setup Camcorder with output DV?

Yep! DV via firewire. Still no luck.

You didn't answer my previous question......

Did you reboot the PC with the camcorder connected and turned on in playback
mode....
