Calendar reminders quit working

My pop up reminders on my windows calendar have quit working when the
calendar is not active. When I access the calendar, the reminders then
pop-up to tell me that the reminder is overdue. I have tried to fix this in
the task scheduler, but the task scheduler is so confusing that I have no
idea how to work it. OS=Vista

Hi,

I has never worked for me with Windows Calendar closed. I find it incredibly
annoying that MS added this cool new feature but it only runs when you have
the program open.

There is also no way to make it run in the system tray either or to link it
to the calendar on the gadget bar.

That is wierd because until this week I did receive pop up reminders even
when the calendar was not active. Does anyone know of any 3rd party claendar
programs that do have automatic pop ups?

I use Outlook 2003, which has calendar reminder popups.

Windows Calendar didn't use to pop up, but lately it has.

Really? Maybe they patched it. I haven't tried it since Vista was released
and I bought my laptop. I don't have SP1 though.

I think it started popping up after I re-installed Vista a month ago. But
I only use it for testing, so I don't have many appointments in it. I
really prefer Outlook's calendar.

I think I just found a great calendar with the unfortunate name of 'Pink
Calendar'. You can find it at http://www.orangesoftware.net/. It is free,
easy to use, the pop-up reminders work great, it has many features, and it
minimizes in the task tray.

Try Google Calendar. Free and far superior.
