Calendar permissions - mark items as private ?

OK. If I go into properties for the calendar in outlook I can give
permissions to various other users etc.

Is there a way to mark items on the calendar as private? (i.e. shown as
private but no details).

There's a Private box in the lower right hand corner of the appointment form

Is there any way to make private the default option for new appts?

What about existing ones? Is there a way to run a batch job to mark
appts as private?

I don't think so but I'll check
