Calculator not in Programs

When I click on All Programs from Start, and go to Accessories, the
Calculator is no longer there. It also should be on my Start Menu. I think I
recently made a restore point, which I really know nothing about. Can anyone
tell me how I can get my Calculator back please. I am able to open it from
the Help & Support page by clicking on the link. Thanks very much.

Click the start button then the run icon and type in "calc.exe" without the
quotes, this will bring up the calculator. Close the calculator and click on
start again. The calculator will be on your recent program list above the
start button. You can right click the calculator now and pin it to the start
menu or send a shortcut to your desktop.

Thanks Karl. It certainly came up after running calc.exe, but once I closed
it, it was nowhere to be found. I even cleared my Start menu items so there
was plenty of room, tried again and no go. Nor does it go to the Programs
list. At least I can bring it up by doing the run thing but if anyone has any
way of retrieving it for good, please advise. Once again, thanks Karl.

Do a search for calc.exe. It should be in C:\WINDOWS\system32. Once you find
it you can put it where you want.

Hi Mandy

You can put a shortcut to the Calculator on the Desktop. Right click on the
Desktop and select New>Shortcut. In the first box you see enter the
following command:

%systemroot%\system32\calc.exe

Click 'Next' and follow the onscreen prompts.

um... go to click on my computer, add/remove programs, add/remove windows
components. double click on assesories and utilities, and then go into
assesories, and make sure there is a check next to the Calculator!

Thanks Arabian Knight (and all of you for your suggestions too). Sometimes I
get a bit gung ho (?) when I'm doing a Disk Cleanup. There is one thing I've
deleted that I can't seem to get back, and that's Paint. Any suggestions???

Hey Michael,
I included Paint in the Add/Remove Windows Components thing when I was
fixing the calculator up. I've done it a few times, but it's not coming up?
What's it normally called, is it Microsoft Paint? I have my XP CD, should I
reload it? Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

You can try a few things... depending on your software setup. You can try:
Paint (335KB) should be in %SystemRoot%\system32\mspaint.exe; copy of it
should reside in %SystemRoot%\system32\dllcache\mspaint.exe.
%SystemRoot% = C:\Windows on most machines. Try these:
1. Run mspaint.exe
2. Search (with Advanced Options enabled) for mspaint.exe
3. Boot in Safe Mode and start Paint as usual
4. Replace it with Paint Dot Net (http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/) - MS
Paint on steroids.

If you do not find mspaint.exe in C:\Windows\system32\dllcache\mspaint.exe,
then you'll have to extract it from your XP CD cabs - or find mspaint.exe on
the web.
