on what might have happened? Tx.

You mean they are not under "All Programs > Accessories" or where exactly
were they before they went amiss?

Find both in C:/Windows/system32 folder (calc and MSPaint), create and cut
shortcuts for each. Cut the shortcuts ONE at a time, and paste where they
were or where wanted in All Programs.

I believe you can re-install these by going to "Control Panel | Add/remove
Programs".
Then click in the left panel on "Add/Remove Windows Components." De-select
everything but "Accessories and Utilities." Click on the "Next" button and
follow the screen instructions.
