cache memory error

my son was playing a game on my pc this morning and called me in to see a
black screen with pink vertical lines on it. Couldn't get any info out of him
as he is only 4. I restarted it and got a screen with the options to:
DEL:setup F11:boot menu F12:network boot

cache memory error
pressF1 to enter setup
press F2 to load default values and continue

I have been in setup and loaded default settings, when i exit it takes me to
the same screen. When I press F2 I get a blank black screen with a little
cursor in the top right corner.
Please help, I don't know what any of this means....and NO, he will not be
using my pc anymore...hmmm, maybe I wont be either.....help.
I am using Windows xp home edition with service pack 2 installed.
cheers

This was supposed to be FUN!

Cache memory is onboard the cpu. All you've spoken about is in reference to
the bios, not XP.
"Cheers" is a term similar to "aloha".

Thanks Dave, but that doesn't help me much, I am running xp on my machine, I thaught that would be enough to get an answer, should I be posting this somewhere else? Ciao

This is a hardware error and has nothing to do with XP or what your son
did. Contact Dell tech support.

Thanks Malke
I guess I can stop blaming my boy, I just wasn't sure if it was something he
did, as he likes to have a fiddle with all sorts of things, even downloaded a
game off the net once when I wasn't looking.
Thanks again
cheers
