cache credential update

Is there a way to update the cache credential of a domain?
LogonUser() does the job, but the problem is that the uplink from the client
to the server/dc is very slow, hence either the DNS/KRB5 request timeout on
the client side, hence the LogonUser() fails and does not update the cache
credential when there is a password change/expired password.
Alternatively, is there a way to increase the timeout on the DNS and
kerberos requests?
