cable unpluged

I have a laptop and desktop running xp, wireless router,
laptop has a wireless card, can share internet
connection, but not files. Where would I find an
unplugged cable?

Look in your network properties. Do you see two NIC's listed? If so this is why you are being notified that one is unplugged. You may or may not have a RJ45 ethernet plug on your laptop. it looks like a large phone jack. I recently had a customer with a laptop that showed one wireles nic and one built in nic however he did not have an external RJ45 plug. I couldn't remove it so I told him to just ignore it as long as everything else was working OK.
