Cable Modem

I am having trouble with keeping the default gateway IP
address for Roadrunner to stay. Windows keep defaulting
to a 169 address, which, I have been told, means that the
cable modem is not communicating with windows xp network
card.
Is there a patch for this, can someone please point me in
the right direction? Roadrunner technicians have been
absolutely no help.

Thanx,
TL

I'm curious first why you're setting up the default
gateway. There really isn't much of a need to do this,
since Roadrunner is dynamically configured, and your IP
address is not static. Use Automatic configuration and
let Roadrunner take care of itself. It's far less
headache that way.

If you have some specific reason to manually configure,
let me know, and I can explain it in detail.

I am running roadrunner and did not setup the gateway. Best advice I can
give is call the roadrunner techies and let them walk you thru it. I have
found them to be very helpful.

Have you tried www.rr.com and looked through the installation troubleshooting?
Should have info there regarding how you need to set your system up -- if not
recall rr and you may get a better tech
