I have a cable modem (telewest) whitch is connected to a network hub (switch)
recently the modem has been disconnecting while I am downloading or on certin
websites. I then have to unplug the modem to re-set it. Telewest cannot help
me.. can anyone else? or has anyone else had this problem and sorted it? I am
running windows xp. both computers on the network are.

Do any of the lights go out on the modem ?
Can you stil ping the modem (or log into the admin screen) ?
Do you get any XP error messages ?
Are you running P2P software (this can cause some hubs to drop connections) ?

Thanks,

TimH

Hi, Yes the status light flashes then goes out, It happens anytime, including
when I am using p2p software, I dont get any xp error messages, and I can't
ping because there is no internet connection.
Thanks

Since you are using file-sharing software, is your computer 100% virus
and malware-free? If you think so, what did you do to determine this?
