My new computer comes with a six-month CA Anti-Virus Plus Anti-Spyware
license. Any reason to use that over Avast or MSE?

No. Get rid of it. The new avast! beta is purty dang good. I mean they
all still miss stuff...so a new computer means two new images that you
can keep and use a fresh machine forever...

an updated factory image cleaned up.

that image loaded with everything you use made again.

then use external HD's and free file sync and/or online back up to
manage changes to your data and portable apps in between images.

CA is the only AV I've ever used that notified me of a pending virus
infection, claimed to have stopped it, but failed to prevent my being
infected. That was some time ago with a free version but personally I will
never again consider using CA.
