C640 overheating and powering itself off

I have a C640 that gets extrememly hot and powers itself
off. I thought I recalled seeing a bios upgrade for this
but have looked at the bios upgrades and don't see
anything.
 
I don't think a BIOS upgrade will resolve this problem unless something in
the old BIOS is somehow preventing the cooling fan (I believe this model has
a cooling fan) from running when it should be. You probably should contact
Dell regarding the problem.
