c/windows/temp extra files - can't delete

my windows/temp file was suddenly innundated by files (13,000 +) most of
which contain msi installer and logagent (appears to have something to do
with windows media player). have run every virus check, spyware program, etc.
with no results. won't let me delete because"files in use." volume used has
jumped from 10 to 30 gbs. anyone else had similiar problem?

Reboot into Safe Mode then delete all files in; %windir%\temp
