Hi Jag,
Open a run command and type in:
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll click [OK]
Reboot your machine, does it help?

System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=170086

This can also be caused by Blank entry in the Run at Start Up and causing
the system32 to start up and not pointing to a correct path or app.
Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK] and locate these two Keys:
[-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run =
Delete any Empty entry like this "/" or " ".

[-]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run =
Delete any Empty entry like this "/" or " ".

Line 260 - 2nd column = System32 Opens at start up:

Thank you nass for your help. I ran regsvr32 /i shell32.dll and
rebooted, but did not correct c:\windows\system32 from opening up. I
really thought Article ID: 170086 would fix it. I did not see anything
that fit the description. Can you take a quick look at attached file to
see if you see anything wrong?

Sincerely,
jag

This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by
an incomplete program removal, in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys. It can also
be caused by an entry in these same keys that starts with a " / ."

This entry is the probably culprit:

-------------------
Value 1
Name: SB Audigy 2 Startup Menu
Type: REG_SZ
Data: /L:ENG
-------------------

Use the fix here:

Line #260: System32 Folder Opens Upon Boot
http://www.kellys-korner.com/xp_tweaks.htm

For Dell PCs, here is a patch from Dell Inc:

http://support.dell.com/support/dow...aseid=R75304&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=98306
Direct download: http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R75304.EXE

This webpatch is to resolve the Audigy 2 "Welcome Menu" issue. This is seen when the "Welcome Menu" is accessed, and the system is rebooted. Windows Explorer will automatically launch and point to the "winnt\system32" folder.
