c-manager error

I receive this error when I reboot my XP Prof box.

C-manager
Application fatal error unable to connect to CCD process.
What causes this. I have checked in device manager to see
if there were any conclicts and there are none.
When I try to open my Microsoft Word 2002 it take about 20
secs to open. But the MS Excel opens like it is suppose
to.
