C Drive Memory Problem

Im experiencing a problem with my memory. My computer has 55.8 G capacity and
it shows that 54.9 G of that is used space. However, when I search through
the files to find the location of the memory usage, I find that it is not
there. I get as far as C:/Documents and Settings/Owner . From there the
location of the memory vanishes. There is 50 G of unaccounted memory that is
being taken up on my computer and I cannot access it to delete it. Any
suggestions?

What is on the hard drive(C) is not memory but actual Data.Memory otherwise
known as RAM is what is installed onto your motherboard...and the type
depends upon the motherboard specs.When you shut your system down what is
stored in RAM is gone....but the DATA on your HD is still there.
Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer management/disk management
and have a look at your C drive.......It will list it capacity and free
space.
While there you will also see the defragment section. do a check but dont
defrag yet.
Right Click MyComputer/properties/..click the system restore Tab and check
the settings for the drive...too large make it smaller.
Open Explorer...right click the C drive/properties/disk clean up....more
options...under System restore...Clean up.This will delete all but the last
Restore Point.Dont Worry they will rebuild up to the space you allocated
above.
Open Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet options...delete cookies...delete
files...clear history....while there adjust file and History settings
Open Your Email Program and clean up in there
Look for your TEMP folder and clean out files that end in .temp
Open Explorer and right click the drive/properties/tools.........and run the
error check(chkdsk) It most likely will tell you to restart..do so.
Once that is done go back to drive/properties/tools and do a defrag.

Now go back to Administrative Tools and see what it says for free space
