C:documents and settings is not accessible

Hi

I am having a nightmare with Windows XP Professional (SP2). When
logging onto my home pc as normal it said:

Windows cannot create a temporary profile directory. This may be caused
by insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your
network administrator.

DETAIL - Not enough storage is available to process this command.

This then timed out after 30 seconds and then this appeared:

Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the
default profile for the system.

DETAIL - Not enough storage is available to process this command.

When the pc starts it looks as though my profile is corrupt as all my
settings are gone, but more importantly i cant access any of my
documents! I have lots of important stuff on there, soem of which
wasnt backed up, some was, so i am really hoping that this can be
solved!

When i click on My documents, the explorer window is empty and if i
move up a level it comes up with the following:
C:\documents and settings\user\desktop is not accessible
Not enough storage is available to process this command

I have 96Gb free on this pc, so i am sure that isnt a problem.

Please can someone help?!
Thanks

Did apply any part og gpedit.mmc (security settings)?
What happens when you log on with a different admin account and try to
browse your files?

thanks for that, though i have already tried it. Even with the new
profile the C:\documents and settings is not accessible warning is
still occurring.

I really hope my documents are retrievable!

My felling is that some permission were screwed, since the new admin account
did not work for you. Is this a new install over old files?
Did you try to take ownership over the files and replacae the permissions?
I do not have XP, here so I do it out my memory
Right click over a folder
Properties
Permission
Advanced
Owner
Change the owner to your account and apply to all subfolders
Apply
OK your self out
Then do it again and check the permission, give yourself full right.
