Where is the CD, behind the tray in the mechanism or literally stuck in the
tray?
If it's in the mechanism, drive disassembly will be necessary to retrieve
the CD. As drives are cheap and the CD may be valuable to you, it's worth it
to take the chance that you may not be able to reassemble the drive.

I'm not getting any good links Googling for disassembly instructions, so
I'll give you some general ideas based on something I did several years ago
when optical drives were worth repairing.

Disclaimer: YOU WILL PROBABLY DESTROY THE DRIVE during this process. DO NOT
DO THIS UNLESS THE media inside is valuable to you AND YOU UNDERSTAND THAT
YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER DRIVE.

1. Remove drive from the computer
2. Look at the top and bottom of the drive case. You should see several
screw heads.
(Note: you may see stickers saying something like "Warranty void if removed"
The screw heads may be under the stickers.)
3. Remove all screws you see.
4. Attempt to pry the top and bottom halves of the case apart. You may have
to break the plastic front bezel off the drive case before the halves come
apart.
5. Remove parts until you can get to your media.
6. Buy replacement drive and install in your computer.

Good luck.

Hi pvdg42 Thank you so much for your help . It worked like a dream, the
drive sliped out & the cd was easy to remove, no damage done. By the way
mine is a laptop. Thanks again.
