C$ and Admin rights

I am on a w2k native domain.
I am a member of the admins group
all machines are winxpsp2
firewall is off via group policy
when I try to attach to the C$ of a machine I am still asked for
authentication. Anyone have any idea why?

If logon the computer with your Doman username first and then map the C$ from other domain computer, can you do it?

Asked for "authenication" or "permission denied"? Even though yu are
Administrator permissions must be granted to you.
