Bypass the "Do you want to open or save this file" dialog box

Hi,
All our client PCs use:
a)windows 2000 + office 2003 + ie6
b)windowxp sp2 + office 2003 + ie6

Our local lan clients use IE6 to connect to our webserver (we are using
webservices for mail merge operations).

They choose a template from a drop down list and the webserver dynamically
generates an xml file with data from a db. IE6 loads the xml file and
automatically opens an (embedded) winword2003 so that our lan clients can
print and/or modify the xml file.

(By embedded I mean when you have a linked pdf document in a html page and
you click on the link, the pdf documents are opened with acrobat reader but
within the ie6 inteface. It is exactly the same with our xml files.)

NOW THE PROBLEM:
Everytime ie6/word2003 opens a xml file, a very annoying dialog box appears:
"Do you want to open or save this file?"
Name: xyz.xml
Type: Microsoft Word Document, 44,3kb
from: ourserver
Open / Save / Cancel

How can we suppress this dialog box (no confirmation should be required),
so that the files are immediately opened in word2003 and ?

thanks a lot

Hi, thanks for answering. This option is already unchecked. It did "not"
solved the problem.

No, tried that too, I also tried: "local intranet", there is still this
annoying prompt.

In Windows Explorer click Tools | Folder Options | File Types and scroll
This option checking does indeed work for:
1) win2000sp4 and office 2003sp1 for doc and xml extensions
2) winxpsp2 and office 2003sp1 only doc extensions.
After unchecking the above mentionned option, the warning does not appear
anymore on point 1) and 2).

Removing the check mark from "Confirm open after download" on xml extensions
for 2) does not work! It still prompts on every atttempt to open an xml file.
I think this is a bug!? Could someone confirm this?!

Removing the check mark from "Confirm open after download" on xm

I had the same problem with the WordML viewer that was prompting to ope
XML files instead of just displaying them.

Here is what I did:
In the "File Options"->"File Types"
New...
Created a new entry for XML bound to (Advanced...) MsoXMLViewerObjec
(use your viewer here)
Click OK, it will ask you if you want to overwrite previous def for XM
(say yes)
Select XML and uncheck "Confirm open after download"

And it works ;-)
