bypass linksys wrt54gs router using remote desktop.

The only way to access my desktop away from home with my laptop is to remove
the router and just use the modem.

I have already opened port 8080 on router but sill had no success.

Can someone give me any suggestions?

Forward the correct port to the port on your system (3389) and make sure any
software firewall you have has port 3389 open.

Why port 8080?
