Buslink DVD +/- RW

Ohboy

Does anyone have any experience with the Buslink 4x RW +/- Drive. I
got one at CompUSA for $80 with Roxio Easy CD version 7. I haven't
installed it yet and I'm wondering if it is a good drive or should I
spring for a Plextor or Sony or Memorex.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Buslink is probably made by someone else and rebranded. Nero6 does not
appear to support it, which may or may not be a concern for you. The 4x
Pioneer 106 OEM is a great drive, as is any Plextor.

A while back a lot of the CD burner buslinks, Pac Digitals and other
rebranders/reboxers - companies that dont make their own stuff , they
just buy in qty anything thats decent and cheap and then stuff it in
their boxes - were the desirable Liteons. They later switched to the
cheaper Ultima/BenQ type drives.

In the same way - many say they get Liteons and the less desirable
Optorite in the Buslinks etc. boxes as well as even less desirable
more generic mass makers of DVD burners that are flooding the mkt now
driving prices lower. A few said they got the really good NECs in
some boxes too.

You can get the NEC 8x +/- 2500a an excellent drive for $90+ or so
from Newegg but I think its in black . The beige one might be a tiny
bit more. Also look for the type - some called OEM barebones version
may not come with any software etc.
