Bus speed and memory

I am thinking of replacing my motherboard. However to cut cost, I want
to reuse my memory. I am kooking at a MB with an AMD 64 3200+ socket
939, Nvadia 6100/400 chipset (built in graphics). If I reuse my PC2100
memory how will it effect the performance and also the CPU bus speed?
Will the slower memory lower the CPU bus speed. In the good old days I
believe it would but is it still true today?

Using PC2100 RAM will greatly slow the data flow in your system, resulting
in lagging performance.
