burnt DVD won't play on DVD player

Sorry if this question has been asked:

I've successfully burnt a DVD of a recorded TV show (Sony DVD-RW disc)
through Sonic. It plays fine on my Dell Dimension 9100 computer using
Windows XP. However, the disc ejects from a Philips DVD711 DVD/Video CD/CD
Player before it has a chance to get started. The DVD disc also doesn't play
on our PS2. Could it be the media I selected to burn on?

Any suggestions/guidance would be VERY helpful.

Okay ... I figured out my problem. I needed to burn to a DVD+R disc to be
able to play it both on our stand-alone DVD player AND PS2.
