Burning With DVD/CD ROM?

Hi all.., I'm trying to burn some music I downloaded from Napster to either
DVD+R's or DVD-RW's using Nero 6 on my Gateway 9300 Pro through it's
internal DVD/CD ROM. It plays movies and DC's great, but do ALL DVD/CD
ROM's have the ability to write or burn also? If not.., what to do?

A DVD or CD ROM drive will not burn. The "RO" in ROM stands for Read
Only. If you don't have burner, you can't burn.

You need to purchase and install a DVD drive with
DVD writing capability. A regular DVD player will
only play DVDs, not record to a DVD disc.

CD-ROM and DVD-ROM are read only drives. They don't write. You
need to buy and install a CD or DVD drive that says RW -- as in
CD-RW or DVD+RW. The DVD-RW or DVD+RW will burn CDs as well as
DVDs, but the CD-RW will only burn CDs. It would be best for you
to get a multi-format DVD-/+RW burner, which will burn everything.

Since you are using Nero 6, I'd assume that you have a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo
drive. If you are talking about burning MP3s, just burn them to CD. I can get
up to 30 hours of MP3s on one CD. How much more do you need? And before you
buy a DVD Burner, do some research about the differences between the drives
and DVD discs. If you don't know how to use your CD Burner, read the Nero
User Guide installed with it.

A drive that says it is just a ROM without saying DVD+RW or DVD-RW or
CD RW will be a read only drive, not a burner
