Burning files to CD

I can not seem to burn any files to a CD. Files that have been burnt on a
CD-R or CD-RW will not read from the CD - ROM drive, either. I have
right-clicked on the drive from MY COMPUTER and checked PROPERTIES and things
are in working order, according to the dialogue pop-up screen.

As I try to burn files to the CD-ROM drive it asks for a blank media, which
does not make sense because I erase the media CD-R or CD-RW before starting
this process. What am I doing wrong? All immediate replies are welcomed and
thanks in advance.

Without 'erasing' the CD-R just try with another blank CD.
see what happens this time.
