Burning dvd'S

I have a compaq presario V4000. It has a burner. I have managed to copy
movies to my laptop but cannot work out how to now copy these to a dvd-r?
I have Windows media player but it seems to apply to CD's only.
I am not much of a computer buff so this all seems a little too hard.
Can any body tell me if my laptop even has the capacity to do what I require
and if so how do I go about it.

The compaq presario V4000 has a DVD burner so providing your have a DVD
burning program installed then you should be able to burn to DVD-R, DVD+R
and DVD RW disks. In All Programs can you see a CD/DVD burning program such
as Nero?
