Burning CD-Rs on my CD-RW

I have regularly been able to back up data and record audio CDs on my
CD-RW drive. Suddenly as of a week ago my CD burning errors out. Do I
need to clean it in some fashion? How? Or is there something wrong with

CD drivers or hardware?

I have a CD-RW/DVD drive in a Dell Inspiron 9200. The operating system
is XP and I use iTunes and Sonic RecordNow.

I also have a Dell (not the one you mention) and XP - and although limited
my experience of writing to the CD-RW drive is mixed.

There is a Dell users forum I think that you can register for - but I can't
give you the link at the moment.

It is probably hardware related (i. e. the drive is bad). The Dell supplied
CD/DVD writer expired within a year.
The replacement is still going strong after two years (not to say this is a
ringing endorsement).

You do realize that there are Dell diagnostics available?
The manual tells how to locate and run them.
