Burning a CD-R

I

igno

I am totally new to this burning of Cds for my home use. I purchased a
LG - CD writer (HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8527B) that had Nero Express with it.
Nero Express supports multi session burning. Now I would like guidance
on the following two points.

1) I have here a "moserbare pro 52X recordable-80MIN 700MB" CDs. Burned
some files on it and checked whether the recording was ok or not. All
was Ok. Next time I burned on this very Cd more files and checked again
whether the recording was ok. At this time I could see only the second
session files on it and the first session files were not there.

2) Now I did the same two things on CD-RW 80/700MB/4X-10X and got the
same thing. The earlier burning was not traceable on this CD.

I have an idea (my be wrong) that the earlier files should have been
there. If my idea is correct am I doing something wrong in burning?
Please guide.

The next time you burn using Nero be sure that you have checked the box that
says "allow files to be added later...multi session disc"

Thanks for the guidance. I wonder how did I write that Nero Express
supports multi session burning. Is it a fact. I tried to find "allow
files to be added later" but could not find.
Please guide further if you have used Nero express.

The option to Allow files to be added later (multisession) is found in the
Final Burn settings. Make certain it is checked. This must be set the first
time you burn to a disk. Following that it will be a multisession disc and
you can add files to it.

Harry,

I am new with this system today. I have a question to ask but cannot locate
a link to post that question. Can you possible guide me through this maze.
All I see are the threads and to the right the box containing questions and
replies. When I click on "New" and then "Question" nothing happens: there is
no blank field to type in.

So with that out of the way, through the back door, here is my question:

When I burn a CD, how do I block other information from appearing on that
document? Yesterday a burned a specific file from my "My Documents" listing
by placing my curser on the file, right clicking, scrolling down to "Send to
.. . " then clicking on CD drive. What I ended up with was the file I copies
plus everything elase on the screen including the My Computer and other
icons. The CD exposed me to the world with everything including my 2003 and
2004 Income Tax reports! Bummer. Do you know where I went wrong? All I
want on that CD is one simple, albeit data heavy, file.

Open the Help and Support Center and read the article entitled: To copy
files and folders to a CD.

Use a real newsreader -- like Outlook Express, which is already installed on
your computer -- and you won't have any trouble using newsgroups.

Okay Ted looking better all the time.

Now, if you have the time, can you tell me which way to go with this CD
burning project? I have no desire to 'cut' a CD with my personal data on it
for public consumption. If you have a minute, here is what takes place:

After inserting a fresh CD in the burner I select the file I want to put on
the CD by right clicking. This gives me the 13 options, normal for XP, at
which time I select the 'Send to' option that takes me down a list of 8 to a
CD icon. I click on this icon and things start happening. Eventually the CD
Burn Wizzard take over and the rest is history. However, when I reinsert the
CD and read it what is displayed on the monitor is a blue and white window
titled 'My Computer' containing two columns. The column on the right
contains the file I selected to be added to the CD. The column on the left
has three subtitles: 'System Tasts,' 'Other Places' which contains 'My
Documents' and all my personal files, and 'Details' which is the current item
selected for viewing, I guess. So how did I manage to include all this data

:

Help and support explains this very well, but try this.
Open My Documents, if you see icons for the hard drive and folders in the
left pane, click Folders on the toolbar so you see File and Folder Tasks.
Place the mouse cursor over the file you want to copy to CD.
When you see the file become highlighted. look in the left pane for add to
CD or similar wording.
Without pressing any mouse buttons mover the cursor to the CD option in the
left pane and click or double click. This will add the single highlighted
file to the CD.

Then you should look in Help and Support on using the mouse to select files.

Good morning Michael,

I opened File and Folder Tasks as you suggested, however, I do not see an
option similar to 'copy to CD' among the 7 offered. We have Remove this
fooder... Move this... Copy this folder, Publish this folder to the Web,
Share this ... E-mail this folder's files, and Delete ...

So would you suggest that 'Copy this folder' is our option of choice?

Well Michael, the option 'Copy this folder' is the right one (per Windows
Help instructions); however, the end results is the same. Do you know of
anyXP tech department that offers free service? I still get more data on the
CD than wanted!
The end results includes my hard drive as well as the specific highlighted
folder I selected to be burned. Perhaps there is another software program on
the market that has addressed this issue. Any suggestions?

You are somehow selecting more than the file you want to select. I don't
have any suggestions other than practice using the mouse to copy files to
another folder.
