bullet spacing not the same

I have a word document with 15 number bullets. When i add an a. and b. to
number ten it moves the spacing for the numbers over more. See example.

1. same
2. same
3. same
....
...
..
10. same
a. hi
b. fred
11. same

Use tab stops that you set in Format Paragraph or in Bullets &
Numbering, not the automatic tab stops that are used if you don't set
your own. (The two-digit numbers might simply go beyond the first
automatic tab stop.)
